"Polka", 2005, mixed media, 24"x24"

Polka,mixed media

Last day in Warsaw I spent with my brother and his wife. She suggested to see a new exhibition at Center of Contemporary Art - Ujazdowski's Palace - "Polka (Polish Woman, Medium, Shadow, Image)." Polka is a contemporary, open archive of clippings and fragments of everyday reality. The images, ideas, and artworks on view form a network that is open to the free play of associations. Contemporary artworks, reproductions, photographs, and old etching are juxtaposed with quotes and excerpts from memories and journals in new and unexpected ways that encourage viewers to reflect and consider adopting a different, alternative vision of culture [Introduction to exhibition, 2005].

Through my painting "Polka", I wanted you to feel the atmosphere of this exhibition. I used original material distributed during the exhibition "Polka".
